The First Ambow Education High-End Forum Held in Kunshan

  On November 7th and 8th, Ambow Education Group, in partnership with the Chinese Education Association’s High School Education Expert Committee and the Beijing Shengtao Education Development and Innovation Research Center, held the “2009 First Annual Ambow Education High-End Forum” at the Ambow Kunshan Service Outsourcing Center in Jiangsu province.

Notable attendees included former Ministry of Education Vice-minister and China Engineering Institute Fellow Dr. Wei Yu, National Standing Committee Member and China Democratic Association Vice-chairman Professor Zhu Yongxin, Beijing Normal University Party Secretary Professor Liu Chuan, USA Department of Education Assistant Secretary Dr. Susan Sclafani, National Education Inspector and China Education Association Vice-president Mr. Tao Xiping, Ambow Education Group President and CEO Dr. Huang Jin, Kunshan City Mayor Mr. Guan Aiguo, German Consul Yvonne Dauns, China Taiwan Vocational Education Communication Center Chairman Mr. Chen Hanqiang, as well as almost 400 middle and high school principals and higher education administrators.
The forum’s main topic was “The thought processes, practical applications, and innovation of the Chinese education system as it faces modernization, the world, and the future”, and touched upon such key issues as “Developing outstanding talent”, “Ownership and Operation Issues of Running a School”, “School Organization and Administration”, and “University Student Employment”, as well as many other pertinent topics related to Chinese education reform and development.
China Education Association High School Education Expert Committee Vice-chairman Ni Zhenmin explained that Ambow Education High-end Forum serves as a communication platform to foster dialogue between senior domestic and international education professionals. As an open forum, many people from outside the education world were also invited.
During the career enhancement education part of the forum on the afternoon of the 7th, Ambow Education Group and the Ministry of Education’s Student and School Consulting and Career Counseling Center formally kicked off the “Employment Opportunities for a New Generation of College Students” project, a collaborative effort between Ambow and the Ministry of Education, as well as universities and colleges throughout the province. At the same time, the Ministry of Education’s Student and School Consulting and Career Counseling Center pledged assistance to Ambow’s national university and college teacher training project, and offered to help establish pilot career enhancement education training work stations at select universities after the program has reached maturity. Ambow and the Ministry of Education will also jointly establish academic research institutions, and develop teaching materials and other resources to provide practical training and internship experience that will help college students increase their employability.
Ambow forum organizer and Vice-president Xue Jianguo said that Ambow hopes to use these kinds of forums to create a platform through which educators, students, and government officials can communicate effectively. Both Ambow and the Chinese Education Association’s High School Education Expert Committee aspire to have the forum become the leading education forum in China.
